Terms of service

Terms for using this site and Barely.

Updated
2 November 2026

These terms cover this site (barely.dev) and Barely: the app, the VM and the barely command. The open source parts Barely bundles keep their own licences, see Licences and source.

01

Licence

  • One licence is for one user, on each of their Macs. Do not share it or its key with anyone else, including across a team or company.
  • We limit activations to catch shared keys, and raise the limit when the Macs are yours.
  • The price is $99, paid once.
  • The trial lasts 30 days.
  • You may not resell, rent or redistribute Barely or its keys.
  • Barely is closed source. You may not reverse engineer it, except where the law lets you or a licence in Licences and source allows it.

02

Updates

Your licence does not expire. It includes updates to Barely as they're made available.

03

Who sells it

Barely is sold through Polar.sh, the merchant of record. Polar.sh takes payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and issues receipts and invoices. Your purchase is also subject to Polar.sh's terms.

04

Refunds

You can get your money back within 30 days. Refunds go through Polar.sh. A refund ends the licence. See the refund policy.

05

No warranty

Barely and this site are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind. We do not promise they will be error free, or that they will suit your purpose.

06

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost profits or any indirect loss that comes from using Barely or this site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the licence. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that cannot be excluded.

07

Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed.

08

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
